I am Richard Novikas

An entrepreneur, problem solver, and builder—of businesses, experiences, and sometimes, buses. Over the years, I’ve navigated the worlds of transportation, entertainment and hospitality, always looking for ways to create something meaningful and memorable.

I founded Star Trolley, a company that blends transportation with unique experiences, and Bean Machine, a venture rooted in my love for coffee and efficient service. I’m always chasing new ideas—whether it’s launching a fresh project, refining an existing one, or simply running a few extra miles (because why not?).

Outside of work, it’s all about books, exercise, dating my wife, or spending time with my son. Those are the things that keep me grounded, energized, and constantly learning.

If you’re into good conversations, crazy ideas, or coffee that doesn’t disappoint, we’ll probably get along.

Can you?

Note to self:
Alright, buddy, let’s cut the bullshit. Can you make it? 1000 miles of running and 100 books before the clock strikes midnight on December 31st?

This clock isn’t just ticking—it’s judging. Every minute that passes is either a step closer to victory or another inch toward the land of “Maybe next year.”

FAILs!

It’s not all fun and games—there have been wins, and there have been losses. Some projects took off, while others never left the ground.

Below are ventures that were derailed by unexpected challenges like COVID or ideas I was passionate about that simply didn’t pan out. But every failure has been just as important as the successes, shaping my approach, refining my vision, and teaching lessons that no win ever could.

Expedient Movers

What: Moving Company (Florida)
Annual Rev: $800k
Where: St Pete, Tampa, Orlando
What Happened? The contractor-based model posed ongoing challenges in finding dependable labor, making it unsustainable in the long run.
What Next? After seeing the decline, shifted from cargo transportation to passenger experiences, allowing for more creativity and engagement in the industry. Founded Star Trolley in 2020.

BOND

What: Cigar Lounge and Bar
Where: WADA
What Happened? Regulation & zoning issues
What Next? Pivoted to develop software solutions for cigar lounges
RIP

Milestone Relocation Solutions

What: Moving Company (East Coast)
Annual Rev: $1.5m
Where: Atlanta GA, Raleigh NC, Charlotte NC, Washington DC, Philadelphia PA

What Happened? COVID made managing the business remotely difficult, and after the pandemic, it was clear that continuing wasn’t feasible.

What Next? After shutting down the out-of-state moving company, we shifted focus to our local business, Expedient Movers. However, despite our efforts, Expedient Movers also came to an end due to ongoing challenges in the industry.
